How it works

The Hwb Bwyd Tywi works like an online farmers market where local people can buy direct from local farmers, growers and food producers through our website.

For Customers

Customers can log on to the site, browse a range of fresh local produce and add any items they like to their online shopping basket. Whilst browsing, you can view the details about the producer, the product and where it comes from.

When you’ve finished shopping, you can place your order, ready for collection or local delivery to your home or place of work.

Customers can order online until  Tuesday Midnight for their shopping to be ready for collection or delivery the following Friday.

OK, we understand this is a little different from how you might usually shop. But the reason it works like this is so we can help our local producers. On the Wednesday morning the producer receives the orders and only has to harvest, pick, make, or bake exactly what they sell, this means they don’t waste any produce.

For your convenience, we also stock a range of organic ethically sourced store cupboard provisions, so that you have the choice to buy you full weekly food shop with us. We source these products from the worker co-operatives Essential – Trading Ltd and Locavore.

For more information about joining as a consumer member see our Support Us page.

For Producers

Local producers can sign up with us, add their products to our online catalogue, and set the level of stock and price they want to sell them for.

Each producer can have a profile page on our site, where customers can learn more about you and how your food was grown, reared or made. We only take a 15% fee to cover our costs, such as promoting your produce, administration, customer service, packing and delivery.

Every Wednesday by 10am, we send you an email with the customer orders to give you time to harvest, pick, pack, make or bake for delivery of your produce to the Llandeilo Station Hub on Friday morning between 9 and 11am. We then pack the individual boxes for each of your customers ready for collection or delivery.

Because our local fresh produce is harvested, picked, packed made and baked to order this prevents the food waste that is often a problem in conventional shops and markets.
